The advantages of the wave form

Considerable performance increases as cutting is easier (see fig. 1) Comparison: tough pieces of meat are easier to cut with a serrated knife.
Improves the coolant delivery to the point
Reduction of the cutting pressure as the cutting forces are better distributed at the cutting edge by the wave form.
Wave form at the point causes chip breaking, wave form in the flutes improves chip transportation.

Reduced coolant volume through lubricity of the soft coating.
Dramatic performance increases as edge build-up is minimised.
Very low friction values as MOVIC^® = non-adhesive, gliding coating.
Extremely small coating thickness (< 0,5 µm), therefore no contour changes after coating, cutting edges remain sharp.

Range of applications

Difficult to machine, high-alloyed steels up to 1000 N/mm²
Al-alloys and other long-chipping light metals with a tendency to edge build-up.
